What this page shows — and what it does not
- The documented project contribution is a voluntary payment supporting selected climate protection measures outside the company's own value chain.
- The CO₂e-based reference quantity is not set against a Product Carbon Footprint, a Corporate Carbon Footprint or any other emissions.
- The contribution supports no statement that a product, a brand or the company is climate neutral, CO₂-neutral, climate-friendly or reduced in emissions.

Project and effect
- Short description
- Hybrid Climate Protection Model with Double Safeguarding This climate protection project combines natural forest reforestation in Togo with legally secure CO₂ compensation through Gold Standard certificates from renewable energy projects (e.g. wind and solar energy). The principle is simple and robust: While around 1,000 hectares of degraded land in Togo are being restored, the formal emissions offset is carried out in parallel through additional Gold Standard certificates. This ensures that your carbon offset remains stable at all times – even in the event of natural risks such as fire or extreme weather. Project Highlights at a Glance Double security:Formal compensation through Gold Standard certificates.Ecological and social co-benefits through forest restoration in Togo. Biodiversity instead of monoculture:Planting of around 3.5 million native trees.Protection of 217 plant species and the establishment of a resilient natural forest ecosystem. Contribution to 12 SDGs:Poverty reduction through the construction of wells, schools, solar systems, and the creation of fair employment opportunities. Local value creation:Support for women’s cooperatives, sheep and fish farming, as well as the establishment of a beekeeping school — creating new income sources for the region. Active forest protection:Up to 60 employees from surrounding villages ensure the long-term protection of the project — including the maintenance of 18 km of firebreaks. Verified integrity:A three-stage control system and regular on-site audits ensure transparent use of funds.

How to read this project contribution correctly
Types of project support
Certificate-based project support
Support of a climate protection project with project units. The project standard and registry ID are documented.
Direct project support
Support of a specific ecological, social or combined measure. No particular CO₂e effect is stated.
Further information
Detailed information is available in the natureOffice documentation framework.
Legal classification
What EmpCo permits
Investments in environmental initiatives may be communicated factually. A project contribution does not have to be certificate-based.
The important limit
No neutral, reduced or positive climate effect of a product may be derived from the project support.
Application
The new rules apply from 27 September 2026.
Notes on communication
Information instead of promised effects
Communicate only the documented facts: project, project type, period and available records.
Keep them apart
A CO₂ balance, a company's own reductions and voluntary project contributions should be presented separately.
Better avoided
Terms such as “climate neutral”, “CO₂-neutral” or “balanced” in connection with project support.
