What this page shows — and what it does not

  1. The documented project contributions are voluntary payments supporting selected climate protection measures outside the company's own value chain.
  2. The CO₂e-based reference quantities are not set against a Product Carbon Footprint, a Corporate Carbon Footprint or any other emissions.
  3. The contributions support no statement that a product, a brand or the company is climate neutral, CO₂-neutral, climate-friendly or reduced in emissions.

Documentation note

This page serves documentation purposes only. It is not a certification, not an award and not a statement of environmental quality.

Deutschland plus Alpen

The primary focus in the Alps, alongside the establishment of alpine mixed forests, lies in areas depleted by storms and bark beetles as well as ensuring the essential restoration of protective forests. The forests on the mountain slopes fulfil important functions for the ecosystem including soil protection, erosion control, avalanche protection and even water conservation. Without protective alpine mixed forests, on top of the risk posed to local settlements, roads and meadows - the stability of the overall ecosystem would be severely influenced.

Alpen

Trees on steep slopes play an important role for the functioning of the ecosystem - especially in a time when weather extremes are more frequent. In cooperation with Bergwaldprojekt e.V. we combine environmental protection in six regions in Germany with PROJECT TOGO, the most transparent climate project in Togo, Western Africa.

Legal classification

What EmpCo permits

Investments in environmental initiatives may be communicated factually. A project contribution does not have to be certificate-based.

The important limit

No neutral, reduced or positive climate effect of a product may be derived from the project support.

Application

The new rules apply from 27 September 2026.

Notes on communication

Information instead of promised effects

Communicate only the documented facts: project, project type, period and available records.

Keep them apart

A CO₂ balance, a company's own reductions and voluntary project contributions should be presented separately.

Better avoided

Terms such as “climate neutral”, “CO₂-neutral” or “balanced” in connection with project support.
